This is just a few snippets of our pre festival season work that we have particularly enjoyed working on in the first half of the year
Black Sabbath
The year started slowly as most of our work is done during the outdoor festival season. However, that didn't stop us doing doing a couple of videos for an excellent Black Sabbath tribute band: Black Sabbath
The recording was made at South St Studios in Reading in front of a fee paying audience, and it was decided to do promotional stills photography in the first half, and 6 video camera video in the second
The main camera was placed in the sound booth, which gave a good overall view which was complemented by GoPros mounted on, or very near, the main instruments
Edward Chilvers
That was followed by a series of promotional videos for Edward Chilvers, a totally unique musician who can play 6 polyrhythms simultaneously!
The challenge of the video series was to enable the viewer to understand a complex topic. Polyrhythms are somewhat alien to most people's ears, and the technique of playing the multiple , simultaneous rhythms and keys needed to be explained
We therefore used an "Interview and response" mechanism to guide the process throughout
So a sequence of videos, starting with the basics, and moving up to mind bogglingly complex keys and rhythms were recorded
The whole series was 5 linked videos that promoted Eddie's latest CD, and were watched in total over 10,000 times leading to a massive uplift in CD and sheet music sales aswell as guest appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury
