A lot of rubbish has been talked about in the media about how bad the mud was at Download 2016. This is what it was really like:
On Wednesday and Thursday, it was glorious sun – I got sunburn even with Factor 50 suntan cream on
On Friday at mid-day it started to rain, which was more or less continuous through to Sunday morning. On Sunday, there was 2 hours of light rain.
These pictures, taken at 10 o’clock in the evening on Sunday show what this all amounted to…
So, yes, Download 2016 was muddy, but no where as bad as it has been in previous years. I have been to 5 Download festivals, and 4 were muddy.
Good boots and waterproof clothing is essential – turn up without those , and you ARE going to get wet.
I do have a beef, however…
Given the predictability of rain at the Summer Solstice in the middle of England, surely, it is now time to dig some permanent drainage ditches. It would benefit all of the events that take place at the Donington Racecourse site. It’s time Donnington! It’s time Download!
This event is now known as “DrownLoad” or “DownPour” – that is unfair, but internet memes like that will do nothing but harm to your ticket sales.
