I was asked to give some festival photography hints and tips to Reading’s local photography club.
The full presentation took 2 hours minutes and I covered equipment, technique, tips for working in darkness, getting photography passes, and selecting and transmitting the final results
The section on “Permission levels” was seen as the most interesting as I went through navigating who can give permission for photography to be done, where the finals photos can be used, getting the right level of photopass, and what those permissions actually mean, and crucially ensuring that you get paid for your work, as it can be the case that the commissioning person isn’t the same person who pays the bill!
The write up in the local paper was a bit short and only selected 2 sentences, but, that’s journalism for you!
